VALHALLA

Feature Film

Logline: A dangerous con man escapes from a testicular cancer ward with the help of a reluctant accomplice, dodging the law and old enemies as he makes good on a promise he made to his daughter. In turn, the accomplice must confront the family he abandoned, a defiant adult daughter and volatile granddaughter. As tensions rise and their dark pasts threaten to catch up with them, their plans soon unravel into a high-stakes battle for redemption, honour and family.

This is a story of violence and gangsters, redemption and morality, with a British twist and an ounce of dark comedy, like any high octane Guy Ritchie or Martin McDonagh film. For writer Paul Roberts and director Kevin Thomas, the themes are deeply personal, the setting as much a character as the characters themselves.

The mindset forged by generation of poverty, of pain. But also the kind of loyalty, stamina, and a refusal to stand down that comes from growing up in a hard andunforgiving place. While the struggles are uniquely Northern, their resonance is universal. What does it mean to be a man? A father? Who do we promise to love and care for, and what can we do when we fall short?

Writer and Director:

Kevin Thomas is one of the UK’s most acclaimed commercial

directors, known for campaigns for Google, Amazon, Sony,

Nike, Apple and Adidas. His work has earned Cannes

Lions, Emmys, D&AD Pencils and British Arrows, and

he was named one of Shots Magazine’s Top Ten Commercial

Directors of the Decade.

Beyond advertising, Kevin has proven himself as an equally

talented narrative filmmaker. His debut short True Love (Once

Removed), starring Sean Harris, won Palm Springs and was

Oscar-shortlisted, while his second film Sunday Roast, with

David Thewlis and Craig Roberts, premiered at the BFI

London Film Festival to widespread acclaim. Valhalla will

be his debut feature.
